&nbsp\;&nbsp\;We are honored to welcome the Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison to the area as she completes her last term as United State Senator. She has been a great friend and champion for Southeast Texas.
Senator Hutchison first won election to the U.S. Senate on June 5\, 1993\, in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator Lloyd Bentsen. Senator Hutchison was elected to her first full term in the U.S. Senate on November 8\, 1994. And in 2000\, more than four million Texans voted for her re-election to a second full term -- no other Texas candidate has ever captured more votes. In 2006\, she was again re-elected by an overwhelming margin.
Senator Hutchison is the Ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation. Additionally\, she serves on the Appropriations Committee\, and the Committee on Rules and Administration. In the 112th Congress Senator Hutchison serves as the Ranking Republican Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Commerce.
