SUMMARY:Ibn Sina Community Medical Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
LOCATION:Ibn Sina Community Medical Center 8599 9th Avenue\, Port Arthur TX 77642
DESCRIPTION:The Ibn Sina Foundation was established in 2001 by a group of local physicians\, business\, and healthcare professionals to bridge the growing gap between the health care needs of a rapidly expanding population of underserved families\, and the ability of existing public institutions to meet their needs. The Foundation&rsquo\;s mission is to ensure the health of the community by providing integrated preventive and primary care in a clinical setting through the dissemination and application of health related knowledge\, thereby enhancing the quality of life for those who so desperately need affordable healthcare but cannot afford it in a typical medical office setting.
The first Ibn Sina Community Medical Center was established in Southwest Houston in 2001. The second Ibn Sina Community Medical Clinic was established in 2004 in Southeast Houston/Clear Lake.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; The third Ibn Sina Community Clinic is under construction on South Post Oak\; another comprehensive medical facility for low income and uninsured patients.
The vision of the foundation is to increase life expectancy\, improve quality of life and enhance chance of survival for low income and underserved families.&nbsp\; Since 2001\, Ibn Sina has provided over 195\,000 outpatient visits. By the end of 2011\, Ibn Sina expects to treat over 60\,000 patients.
